The Ring Table is a design by Olivia Herms
December 12, 2021THE RING TABLE, A DESIGN BY OLIVIA HERMS
May we introduce: Olivia Herms - designer of our latest product - the dining table RING TABLE. Our new dining table was created in close cooperation with the former project manager of Konstantin Grcic Design. With the construction, she continues the design language of the Acapulco Chair: "The dining table is a natural further development of the Acapulco Chair and inspired by its delicate and complex geometries," explains the designer. “Viewed together, the shape of the table also influences how the chair is perceived. I would say that the Ring Table and Acapulco Chair complement each other, form a coherent unit but also work independently of each other,” adds Olivia.
FRIENDS COME TOGETHER AT THE ROUND DINING TABLE
From the beginning of the collaboration, it was very important to reflect the sociability as the epitome of Mexican joie de vivre. That's why Olivia Herms and Benjamin Caja agreed very early on that the new model can only be a round dining table. The new piece of furniture thus completes the product family from Acapulco Design in an inviting and contemporary way. The RING TABLE as a place of longing for happy togetherness: a very important credo, especially in these times.
Olivia Herms is a German/French industrial designer based in Munich. After graduating from ENSCI - les Ateliers in Paris, she works for world-renowned design studios such as Claesson Koivisto Rune in Stockholm and later for more than 10 years at Konstantin Grcic Design in Munich. She was responsible for projects in the fields of furniture, objects, interior design and stage design. In 2013 she founded her own studio, worked on various design projects and in 2019 she prepared for a new journey with her own brand Badaandbou to design playful furniture and objects for children. Acapulco Design would like to thank Olivia for the trusting, inspiring and very professional collaboration.
THE RING TABLE, INSPIRED BY THE DESIGN OF THE ACAPULCO CHAIR
Have fun with the RING TABLE sketches. Here the development and inspiration from the core product - the original Acapulco Chair - is illustrated. The color-coded ring forms the basis of the construct, both for the lounge chair and for the construct of the dining table frame. The ring forms the central and connecting element for the other delicate geometries of the respective furniture. A principle that has already been used in the AD Dining Chair variants.
