ACAPULCO DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

ACAPULCO DESIGN presents Mexican design and craftsmanship made in the region in their unbroken vitality. In addition to the legendary lounge chair Acapulco Chair from the 1950s, managing director Benjamin Caja has expanded the range with new models that interpret the original design in a contemporary way: A cantilever chair and a dining chair, designed by the design studio HANSANDFRANZ, will be joined in March 2021 by product designer Olivia Herms designed dining table. Its “little brother” The Low Table will follow in the summer of 2022. These subtly pick up on the stylistic elements of the Acapulco Chair: With their filigree geometry, they complete the Acapulco seating group as a symbol of social encounters and Mexican joie de vivre.

Authenticity, quality and sustainable production are particularly important to the company, which was founded in 2015: That is why the managing director Benjamin Caja is involved in all production steps in Mexico City and ensures fair conditions for all manufacturers, workers and suppliers involved. ACAPULCO DESIGN brings the popular and hand-made "Acapulco Chair" in ever new versions from Mexico to Germany.

Our Acapulco Chair stands for fair trade and social responsibility. Our employees in Mexico not only earn the minimum wage, but also receive a significantly higher wage than average. Occupational health and safety regulations such as minimum age and benefits are strictly observed. We are committed to equality by giving women and men the same wages. Regular visits and an exchange with the factory in Mexico ensure transparent cooperation. We also help protect the environment by using a large proportion of recycled plastic in our models and by using solar energy to power the factory. We value sustainability and longevity through the use of high-quality materials and the careful manufacture of our Original Acapulco Chairs

ORIGINAL ACAPULCO CHAIR, THE PRODUCTION

Acapulco Design attaches great importance to the qualitative manufacture of its products and furniture. The Acapulco armchairs are traditionally handcrafted in a factory in Mexico City. We pay very close attention to fair conditions during production. Acapulco Design is involved in all production steps on site. There is personal and regular contact with all employees of the factory, as well as with all suppliers. Acapulco Design thus guarantees that people with a lack of prospects can be granted a secure job and fair pay. The employees are paid well above the minimum wage level and women and men receive the same pay. Safety at work also plays a very important role in the production of the Acapulco chair.

Of course, we also pay a lot of attention to the quality and comfort of our Acapulco Chairs. Only materials of the highest quality are used in production. In addition, they do not contain any harmful substances. So when you buy an Acapulco armchair from Acapulco Design, you not only own a high-quality product, you also support sustainable production.

Zeitgemäßes Design gefertigt in bayerischer Produktion: Während die Acapulco Chairs und die Dining Chairs AD-1 und AD-4 in einer Manufaktur in Mexiko-Stadt gefertigt werden, fand der gesamte Entwicklungsprozess des Tischs in Deutschland statt. Sämtliche Komponenten und Materialien kommen aus Deutschland und werden dort auch zusammen gebaut. Die Produktion hat ihren Sitz im bayerischen Waakirchen in der Nähe vom Tegernsee. Damit möchte Acapulco Design in seiner Weiterentwicklung einen Beitrag zur lokalen Produktion leisten.
