The Jalisco Chair model is inspired by the region of the same name in Mexico and the capital Guadalajara. the western state of Jalisco is very proud of its tradition of typical dances and charreadas (Mex.rodeo), and is the cradle of mariachi music and tequila. The idea of the new lounge chair came about through a trip through the region. The shape is the same as the original Acapulco Chair, the creative and new weave reflects the diversity of the region.
The Jalisco model is characterized by a strong and asymmetrical wicker structure (unlike the minimalist wicker Acapulco Chair). The colors and patterns of the model reflect the diversity of Jalisco. Every Jalisco Chair is unique. the colors remain the same - the gradient is slightly different for each model. Photographer Daniel Caja and his brother - Acapulco Design founder Benjamin Caja - traveled through Jalisco to find inspiration for the latest lounge chair through culture, nature and the exciting social encounters. in addition to the original Acpaulco Chair (50s) and the Oaxaca Chair (2021), the Jalisco Chair is the 3rd model that has its origins in the corresponding states of Mexico.
Together, Daniel and Benjamin Caja have already made several photo trips through Mexico - with a self-proclaimed "photo guerrilla tactic". That means simply putting 1-2 Acapulco Chairs in the trunk, driving randomly in one direction and finding photo opportunities. this way often leads to very exciting encounters with the country and people of the different regions of Mexico. Here the brothers immerse themselves in a world far removed from any context in which the Acapulco armchair and its new interpretations are usually found.
Even if the approach of “photo guerrilla tactics” seems random, respecting Mexican culture and society is always Acapulco Design's highest concern. After all, creativity that inspired the unknown designer to design a design icon like the Original Acapulco Chair could only grow under the same conditions. Acapulco Design respects the design and origin of the Acapulco Chair like no other company. In addition to an aesthetic one, we always have a socio-cultural mission with the country of origin of the design classic.
